SUMMER SWIMMING LESSONS

SWIM LEVEL CLASS DESCRIPTIONS
PARENT AND CHILD SWIMMING (Potty Trained - 4 yrs)
Designed to help the very young child develop water confidence by working on independently sitting, standing and walking in shallow water, submerging the face and head while holding his/her breath and rolling over from front to back. Parent will help child learn to jump into pool surface and return to side of pool. Child must be accompanied by an adult (18 or over) into the water at every session. Fee covers one parent and one child.
WATER CONFIDENCE (3-6 yrs)
For children who cannot comfortably put their face in the water, and cannot separate from parents. Children will develop water confidence, then learn to hold their breath and submerge their face and head, roll over from front to back and jump in to pool surface, returning to side of pool. Parent participation is welcome.
PRE BEGINNER SWIMMING (Check classes for ages)
For children who are comfortable putting their face in the water, but cannot float. Children will develop skills such as holding breath, submerging face and rolling over to float on their back, jumping into the pool surface, return to side of pool. These skills will help ready them for beginner swimming.
BEGINNER SWIMMING (Check classes for ages)
Introduces the non-swimmer to basic water skills. Will work toward developing the ability to jump into deep water and swim 25 yards. Child must be able to separate from parent, float on front and back.
ADVANCED BEGINNER SWIMMING (Check classes for ages)
Designed to take the beginner swimmer from survival skills to good swim techniques. Will develop the ability to dive off side of pool into deep water, jump off 1 meter diving board & swim 25 yards doing crawl and back crawl. Prerequisite: Must be able to jump into deep water and swim 25 yards.
INTERMEDIATE SWIMMING (6-14 yrs)
Introduces the advanced beginner swimmer to new swimming strokes while increasing endurance. Will dive off side of pool into deep water, jump off 1 meter diving board and swim 50 yards using different strokes with turns. Prerequisite: Must pass advanced beginner test.
ADVANCED SWIMMING (8-15 yrs)
Refines basic strokes while adding new strokes and increasing endurance. Introduction of 3 meter diving board. Will work toward swimming 100 yards with various strokes and 50 meter butterfly with turns. Prerequisite: Must pass intermediate test.
BEGINNING/INTERMEDIATE SPRINGBOARD DIVING (7 yrs & up)
Class covers skills of springboard diving as well as required dives on the 1 and 3 meter board, as well as several optional dives. Prerequisite: Must be able to swim 50 yards in deep water.
ADULT SWIMMING (15 yrs & up)
Introduces the beginner and non-swimmer to the water, to proper breath control and to beginning swimming skills. Can have some prior water experience.
SWIMMING FOR THE NON-SWIMMER (18 yrs & up)
This class is specifically designed for the adult who has never had the opportunity to learn how to swim. Students will learn how to enter the water safely, submerge and float while holding breath, float on front and back, and propel themselves through the water using arms and legs with rhythmic breathing.
